Have you heard of pull marketing? (Hint - you pull people to you!)
Push Marketing
Most of us understand traditional marketing or push marketing business strategy. It is about cold-calling people you believe need your services, work hard to set-up a meeting with the "right" people and then bring your best sales pitch. It's about advertising on the radio, television, in newspapers or magazines.
OR...
It's about finding great networking happy hours, inviting a friend or two and then mingling with other like-minded business people. You nibble on fried food and hope you somehow make an important connection.
DOES THIS STILL WORK?
Well, traditional marketing does work, but it takes an amazing amount of time and effort...and MONEY. Sometimes business owners and entrepreneurs have time, but most of us really don't have "extra" time, not one minute...and we could usually use an extra 24 hours in each day.
Pull Marketing
Most of us don't like to be sold something, we shy away from salespeople at the mall or ignore telemarketing calls - mostly because we want to be in control of when we buy something. So think of your ideal customer and if they operate the same way - how do you reach them?
Pull marketing or inbound marketing is a slick new term, which basically means you create a process where your best customer will call you, email you and/or hunt you down to buy from you. Sound great?!? Well it not as difficult as it seems, yet it takes some careful planning and execution.
You need to forget everything you ever knew about marketing. Start by creating a message which speaks to your best client profile and allows them to get to know you and like you, before they even meet you. Who should you target? Fabulous question...
Have you ever thought about what type of work (service or product) makes you the most money or creates the least effort or gives you the most joy? What if you only focused on this one area and you worked to create a marketing plan where people would come to you for this service or product?
It is all possible with a solid growth strategy, thoughtful content creation, video marketing, social media integration and an amazing advisor or business coach.
